Having a Party this weekend? CALL a BEER na yan!

Planning a party this weekend? Call a beer!

To be honest, One of the things that I dread when I host a party is planning what to drink. I have a mix of male and female friends so usually what happens is someone has to go to the grocery to buy a beer.

But due to the Christmas rush you will bound to experience traffic in those long lines just to buy a pack or two of beer. Thankfully now there is Call a Beer!

All you have to do is give them a call, tell them what type of beer you want and how many and it will be delivered to your house!

As they say You ring we bring! The added plus to this is not just being delivered to your door step but its in a specially branded cooler, served absolute zero degree so you can get the party started!

Call a beer delivery comes in handy a lot especially this holiday season. If there is a party, get together with some friends like watching a basketball game a good iced cold bottle of beer is great addition to have to sit back and relax with.

Don't bother picking up the car keys or going to the nearest grocery, just pick up your phone and call a beer! Its the safest way to have fun with the convenience of at-your-doorstep delivery!

Here are the steps:

1. Please ensure that you are 18 years old or older to place an order.

Authentic Italian Cuisine MINUS the MSG at Fratini's

Hey guys!

I know you guys know how I love Korean food right? But before I came to know Korea food I can say that I have been obsessed in Italian cuisine.

I have relatives that live in Naples and when they visited us here in Manila for the holidays, I remember my aunt taught me one simple Italian dish that up to this day I won't get tired of eating - Spaghetti.

Unlike the Filipino style Spaghetti, the Italian kind that my aunt taught me was very simple and didn't used that much additional seasoning like Mono Sodium Glutamate or MSG simply because Italians don't use that in their dishes!

Missing the way Italians like their food without MSG is kind of hard to find here in Manila, but thankfully I was able to check out Fratini's in SM Jazz in Makati recently.

Fratini's is actually a restaurant that serves no MSG in their meals and have their ingredients as fresh as possible which is great if you are into very healthy food minus the stigma of not having a great taste to it.

Their interior is very minimalist with a bit of Italian flair with its little touches like the wall art that as if you are dining at a cafe beside the canals of Venice.

One of things I actually like to see more on the restaurants is if they have an open kitchen. Usually when a restaurant has an open kitchen it gives the customers a glimpse of how the staff carefully prepare their meal and also make our senses tingle with excitement.

And also they have a blackboard menu in which you can just see a handful of things in their menu because usually Italian dishes are very simple in nature but packs a lot of flavor to it.

I was able to try some of their best sellers and even tried my luck in making my own pizza.

I thought making pizza from scratch was easy but it was harder than I thought. We were dared to make our own 21 ince pizza. Its easier said than done to be honest. After making those pizza I think the second thing I want to do is just sit down and not move haha! but its fun to be honest and really nice too because you learn a lot from making your own pizza!

Here are our creations!

You can do the same especially with the kids this Christmas season! For just 225 PHP, kids and kids at heart alike can make their own pizza topped with 3 of your favorite pizza ingredients!

I was really amazed when they also shared that they can adjust the food for the customer if they are particularly allergic to one ingredient in their dishes thus making their dining experience a great one for sure.

But of course lets go through the food that I tried here at Fratini's ]

(L-R: Insalata All'Ortolana, Sicilian Salad,
Linguine Al Fruitti De Mare, Braised Lamb Shank,
Mixed Grilled Meat, Seafood Special)

And of course let's go through the dessert platter

(L-R Tiramisu Tradizionale,
Pana Cotta De Frigole,
Classico Del Pudding Di Choco)

Fratini's is really perfect not just for the health conscious but also for families who want to experience a different dining experience in making their own pizza!

I would really recommend this to you guys to try out for sure!

Have you been to Fratini's? Tell me your experience on the comment section below!

Drunk Food Diaries: Jollibee's pancake sandwich

This blog is all about food.

And with that I will be making a series dedicated to food and drinks that most people take when they are drunk thus with the name drunk food diaries.

I won't deny that I like to go drinking. Its a social gathering with friends to catch up and also to just chill but after drinking too much most of the time what happens is either me and friends get wasted and sleep in the car or get hungry before heading off to bed.

My male friends usually drag me along to eat first before heading home because they feel that eating after a round or maybe 10 rounds of beer would lessen the hang over the next day. It does happen sometime but I won't recommend it.

For the first installment of this series I would present to you Jollibee's pancake sandwich.

It has 2 pancakes, egg, cheese and bacon. Its like a breakfast meal in a sandwich form.

There isn't really anything special to this rather than they replaced the bun with pancakes which brings a bit of sweetness to it but it doesn't overwhelm the taste buds.

Even if you are not drunk this is a good breakfast meal if you are on the go. You can have this ala carte for about 60php. Not bad as well for the wallet if you have wasted it in beer haha!

Over all, this is a great meal to eat when you are drunk or not. Try it out for yourself! this is available only on their breakfast time which starts about 1am to 11am if you are heading to a 24hr Jollibee.

And also just to remind you guys its great to drink with friends,

but drink in moderation always ok?

Much Love!

Cozy Spanish inspired food at Mateo's

I remember my grandmother telling me stories about her grandmother preparing her some authentic Spanish dishes when she was young. We do have some Spanish lineage thus my grandmother experiencing some Spanish culture.

Unfortunately she was not able to pass down those recipes that was prepared to her when she was younger so I actually didn't know much about it.

Thankfully, I would be able to try some authentic Spanish food from Mateo's.

Mateo's is located just a couple of streets away from my house here in Quezon City.

Its a small quaint restaurant that has a very homey feel to it. It is quite small but has a warm feel to it that I am really at home to this restaurant.

Most of their restaurant specialties are based from recipes that were brought by the ancestor of one of the owners of the restaurant which is Mateo Del Castillo which the restaurant is also named after.

Trivia time!

Mateo Del Castillo is Sir Miko's (one of the owners of Mateo's) Great-grandfather. According to Sir Miko when his Lolo Mateo was young, he used to have restaurants and boarding houses in Batangas in which one day he sold all of his investments to support the HUKBALAHAP or Hukbong Laban Sa Hapon during the Japanese invasion here in the Philippines.

I really like that even though Mateo Del Castillo was not originally a Filipino, he has the heart of one because of how much he wanted freedom for our countrymen at that time.

Okay enough trivia time. Here are some of their specialties.

These are called Senoritas. They are soft breads with some butter or margarine filling. They are really nice to have when its a little warm. This is great to have with coffee or hot tea.

I actually forgot what is the name of this exact dish but this has button mushrooms and they taste like they were cooked in an adobo style because of the garlic.

Tortilla Espanola. Its the classic tortilla with some cheese and I think there was Spinach in this. It als comes with 2 dips that actually really make the tortilla taste so much better.

.

Next is Creamy Spinach and Mushroom Quesadillas. Just like its name, it is really creamy and I love the texture because of the mushroom and the spinach.

This is Caesar's Salad Supreme. I like the presentation but I feel that the serving is quite small. I like a hearty serving of salad sometime but this tastes great.

Binagongang Bagnet. I was quite intrigued with this because honestly I don't eat binagoongan or bagoong to be exact. I don't like the fishy smell of it but this one doesn't have that and the way the bagnet was added made the dish really awesome!

Mateo's Special Kare Kare. I love Kare Kare and I think Mateo's is my 2nd most favorite. Of course the first would be my mom's version so I placed Mateo's in the second place. The peanut sauce isn't overwhelming although if you taste it there is really a difference on what grade of peanut they used to make this dish.

Paella Negra. It was my first time to see this so I was really excited to try it out. It contains seafood which I also like. Compared to the original kind, I think the Paella Negra does have a different taste because of the rice.

Mateo's Spanish Paella - this is I think one of the dishes that really represent Mateo's. Its fresh and very simple but a very hearty dish to share with friends and family.

Mateo's also serve pasta dishes like their Spaghetti Alla Vongole and Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca. I would suggest you guys try these because the taste is just extraordinary and its quite flavorful.

And if you loves sweets, Mateo's also have an in house selection of pastries and sweet breads for everyone to enjoy.

One of the best I can recommend is their Blueberry Cheesecake and their Mateo's classic ensaymada which are both made in their restaurant.

Aside from the delicious food, they also offer classes if you want to hone your Spanish speaking skills and also some arts and craft classes like crochet workshop. The only thing is you have to pay about 850 PHP that includes 2 ball of yarns, a hook, handouts, Mateo's Houseblend Iced Tea, Spanish Quesadillas and a choice of Puttanesca or Chicken Pesto Penne this coming January 11 and 25. I got hooked in this class because once you start making your masterpiece its impossible to stop because it looks so cute!

One of the things you can also do at Mateo's is make your own Gingerbread house as well! This is especially great to make with kids! for a fee of 1,000PHP you get decors, the gingerbread house, and frosting you can use to design your own gingerbread house that you can bring home.

3. Spanish Saturdays - with a fee of Php 950.00 includes Handouts, Tapas, Paella, and a glass of red wine or sangria. (January 10 & 24; 3:30-6:00PM)

Lastly is their Spanish Saturdays this coming January 10 and 24. For a fee of 950PHP you get to learn Spanish and also it includes the handouts, tapas, paella, and a grass of red wine or sangria. I really had a great time in learning some new Spanish  classes and I think I will come back for more for sure this January.

If you would like to try out Mateo's delectable treats you can visit Mateo's at 76 Malakas St. V.Luna Quezon City.

Much Love!
