Korean Seoul Food at Jang Geum Kitchen

Korean food is slowly emerging as a favorite for all Filipinos and its also become my favorite too so I am very excited to share to you this restaurant I checked out at Met Live Mall in Pasay City - Jang Geum Kitchen.

Compared to other contemporary Korean restaurants who offer unlimited food, Jang Geum is more on the traditional way how restaurants are and their price range is a bit more than the usual range I would go for but the food is super worth it I promise you and great to share with the fam or with your friends.

One thing I can say with this restaurant is the aesthetic is on point! One thing I do love about the interior of Jang Geum Kitchen is that its like you are in a modern take on a mom and pop or family owned Korean restaurant. Another thing I liked in their interior is most of the things in their menu is written in Hangul so if you are studying Korean you will get a knack in translating the menu. But there is also an English translation in their menu.

They also have an open kitchen concept which is cool because you can see the kitchen staff work and create amazing dishes. The coolest part of this restaurant is the owner is also the head chef so you are assured of the quality of the food being served to you.

Here are my recommendation from Jang Geum Kitchen

Mix Meat Plate (Medium 1500 Large 2200)

I know what you are thinking - ITS TOO EXPENSIVE! But here is the catch if you order this with about 5 more for the large serving you will actually get more because they have huge servings. The Mix plate platter comes with pork belly, beef shoulder blade and spare ribs along with some vegetables and it has been pre cooked so when they serve it, you just have to cook it more to your liking. This also comes with side dishes that are uniquely Korean and can fill you up too. I would suggest getting the fried rice or the rice ball for side dishes because it complements the taste of the meat.

Ddeok bok gi (950 pesos)

This is by far my favorite Ddeok Bok gi! This is not just a spicy rice cake but is a whole meal if you ask me. It has thick cut rice cake, dumplings, fish cake, hard boiled egg and pork katsu with cheese sauce. lowkey I am craving it while writing this because its sooo good! If you are not a fan of spicy food you might not like it but if you want to try authentic Korean spicy rice cake I would suggest you give this a try. And don't come at me in the comments on how steep the price is because I would tell you that this is worth every peso and can feed about 4-5 people. So don't come at me and try it first okay?

Rice ball

I actually love this one because this one is cool to eat because you can do a rice ball in it. The serving is enough for two and its fun especially for kids. This comes in two flavors: Naichi and Tuna. Its like a bibimbap but is much more fun to eat.

Aside from the aesthetic, Jang Geum is really a restaurant I would recommend this restaurant if you want to try Korean comfort food with your friends and family.

Much Love!

Tex-Mex Realness in the South with Fiery Style

As a Foodie out to find the yummiest bites geography isn't really a problem for me but this is really a first for me - travelling to the south part of the metro to try out this newly opened restaurant in West Alabang Parade along Daang Hari called Fiery Style.

Fiery Style is a Tex-Mex restaurant that is slowly taking over the south with new branches opening up a lot so I am quite curious with its offerings.

The interior in their West Alabang Parade branch is heavily inspired by Mexican references and the colors of the interior is just popping out. Its a quaint branch but it can easily accommodate large groups of people.

With the main colors relying on orange, green and more earthy tones it looks like you have been brought to Oaxaca City. I do like the orange color because its bright and just brings happiness if you see it.

Now lets go with the food choices I will recommend to you guys if ever you drop by Fiery Style.

RIB EYE STEAK 1558
First thing on my list to recommend to you is their steak. The steaks they offer are quite steep in terms of price but you won't regret it. Its tender, juicy and packed with flavor. This serving we got was actually enough for 8 people if you want to have this as like a sampler plate for everyone.

They also have a variety of steaks you can choose from depending on your preference.

APPETIZERS / STARTERS

For Appetizers or starters I would suggest the Lord of the Wings (1198php) which is 24 chicken wings, 8 of each stacked one on top of the other topped with Hot hot hot sauce and jalapenos, Nacho cheese sauce with bacon and Texan style BBQ sauce. This is actually great to share with friends and family who have conflicting taste buds because the sauce range is from mild to spicy. I personally prefer the nacho cheese with bacon but I slide in some of the hot hot hot sauce in it for a bit of a kick.

Another one I will recommend is their fiery nachos (388php) too. This is basically nachos on overdrive which I love because each layer has a different flavor! One of the things I highly regard with their nachos is that there refried beans is one of the best I have tried so far. Its not too mushy or bland.

 GALLEON GRILLS

I would be recommending the Galleon of Bones (1578php) and Baja Supremo (1688php) These are the types of entrees I would be recommending for family gatherings because the Galleon of Bones is basically for the meat lovers while Baja Supremo is for those who love seafood and they both taste amazing and it also comes with rice which is a must.

 DRINKS

And since we are talking about Mexican food its no surprise that I would dabble myself on some alcoholic drinks too because Mexicans, much like us LOVE to drink so if you also want to try out cool mexican inspired drinks here are my two recommendations:

1. MOJITO

They actually have two kinds of Mojito which are the House Minty Mojito (158php) and the Flavored Minty Mojito (178php) that comes in Fresh Mangoes, Green Mandarin, Lychee, Strawberry and Cranberry. I would prefer the House Minty Mojito because its quite strong in flavor but won't knock you out immediately.

2. EL TAMARINO SOUTHWEST MARGARITA

This is actually my favorite from the Southwest Margaritas that Fiery Style offer. This is actually bottomless but I would have to tell you to drink moderately because this one will knock you out after one drink because its quite stronger than the mojito. Don't let the fruity tamarind flavor fool you because this has a lot of alcohol which personally I prefer to drink if I am just enjoying the night with my friends.

Overall I think Fiery Style is a great Tex-Mex place if you want a taste of amazing Mexican food along with great service.

Check out Fiery Style thru their social media pages for more info on their locations and also promos!

Be in Bloom with Sakura Hanami

 \
One of the things I love is Milk Tea because why not right? And if you know me too well you know that I love a new place where I can enjoy milk tea and take cute pictures of it.

And I just found probably the cutest Milk tea place ever! The coolest info about this is it is located in Maginhawa st. Q.C. - insert me fainting out of sheer excitement.

I am talking about Sakura Hanami!

I actually saw several posts about other blogger friends of mine that have visited Sakura Hanami before and because I was too busy it slipped off my mind of visit them. I am super thankful though to my new found friends from Hungry Byaheros in inviting me to chat one afternoon for this!

So what is Sakura Hanami all about?

If you guessed that they are inspired by the Japanese Cherry Blossom well you get an online hug because that is their whole aesthetic! The whole place screams Sakura or Japanese Cherry Blossom which is just too cute not to pass out on.

One of the coolest things about Sakura Hanami is their menu is not just all about milk tea but rather have a variety of other ways to enjoy Japanese-inspired tea. We were able to try their best sellers and I am not surprised why these were the favorites in Sakura Hanami because everything was just amazing but I do have my favorites.

1. Red Velvet Milk Tea

Ever imagined having a red velvet cupcake transformed into a drink? THIS.IS.IT. It is creamy, sweet, and flavorful without the overwhelming sensation that you might have consumed too many to pray for forgiveness. I do love this drink as more as a dessert treat after dinner and I would say its best to enjoy this with your friend.

2. Hanami Dream

The second drink is what I would call the instagram drink fit for your dreams. The colors were so mesmerizing it was just like its name - A Dream. The Hanami Dream is quite sweet but if you want to enjoy something on a hot day this will be my recommendation to you.

3. Hot Tea

I have been a tea drinker even before milk tea came into existence. Sakura Hanami actually offer a different kind of tea drinking experience because they are just too cute and soothing too. The ones that we tried were the Traditional Cherry Blossom Tea, Blue Pea Fruit Tea and the Blossom Ethereal Tea. All of these were great to enjoy with friends if you want to feel a little fancy and soothe your stress away with tea.

4. Sakura Signature Bubble Tea (Extra Strength)

This is actually the one I am quite excited  about because this is my utmost favorite from all the milk tea that I have tried. If you noticed this has Extra Strength added to it not to scare you but because its to those that prefer a stronger tea flavor on their milk tea. This is by far my favorite and although its sweet and creamy the tea flavor is not lacking in any way. The pearls also had some flavor into it that its such a delight to my taste buds.

Another thing I might add is their drink are quite affordable. The bigger sizes are just around 100 - 200 pesos range which amazing because it can be fit for 2-3 person per serving so you get a bang for your buck.

Also aside from the teas they serve, you can also buy Sakura themed drinks like latte or flavored water which is just too cute to just put in display!

Sakura Hanami is located at 168 Maginhawa St. Diliman, Q.C.

Check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for more information!

Moonleaf Celebrates 9 Years in the business with 9 Pesos Milktea!

Moonleaf is one of the the most prominent milk tea shops in the Philippines and since they have turned 9 years in the business they decided to treat their patrons with 9 pesos milk teas for the first 100 customers.

I am very thankful to be part of the event and I was able to try some of their dishes too.

And I was able to try the cheese cloud on two of my favorite milk tea in Moonleaf - Thai Milk Tea and Thai Pink Tea.

Cheese Cloud is one of the newest add on to your milk tea at Moonleaf which brings out a whole new creaminess to your favorite milk tea. I might change up my milk tea order because of this because I want to try it out with the other drinks Moonleaf offers its crazy about all the possibilities.

I am actually surprised with the food that Moonleaf offers because for the longest time I actually haven't tried their pasta and I am super in love with their tuna pesto because its oozing with flavor and its just...amazing because I love pesto haha!

The one thing I always order though is their desserts because they are perfect with their drinks. My favorite is definitely the cheesecake although I hoped for chocolate cake but a girl can dream no? haha!

Congratulations Moonleaf for being in the business for 9 years! I hope you have more years to bring amazing milk tea for everyone and for more new flavors for everyone to enjoy.

Check out Moonleaf Tea on their official social media pages for information about their latest promos and launches.

Samgyup sa Lahat is now open in Vitalez

You guys know I love Samgyupsal and I won't miss the opportunity to try new restaurants no matter how far they are.

Last Monday, September 30 2019 I was able to experience a new kind of samgyupsal at Samgyup Sa
Lahat in Vitalez, NAIA 1 Complex, Paranaque City.

This is actually just a stone throw away from NAIA Terminal one so getting here is very easy.

If you are coming from the North (i.e. Quezon City and its neighboring cities) Just take the bus route that says MIA or Mania International Airport and tell the conductor to drop you off at VItaliz or NAIA Complex one.

If you are from the South, try the route that goes through NAIA Terminal 1.

Samgyup Sa Lahat is actually a different concept compared to other restaurant that offers Samgyupsal because they have 4 types of marinated meats inspired from the 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

Spring is marination in Oil, Salt, Pepper and Herbs. Summer is Spicy Gochujang, Autumn is Miso Sesame and Winter is Sweet Soy. Let me break down the taste for each marinate.

Spring is quite mellow but has a certain fluctuation in flavor compared to the other three. I actually like this because the taste is not overwhelming to the meat although if you prefer a more complex flavor experience this will fall a bit behind from the others. I still like this as a starter if you ask me.

Summer is Spicy Gochujang, by far is the most colorful out of the four marinates. Although intimidating to the eyes, the moment you cook the meat marinated in the Summer flavors its not that spicy for me. The taste is quite smokey and mouthwatering and I love  this.

Autumn is the Miso Sesame which has a deeper flavor classification for my tastebuds. This actually is the most plain  looking for me but the flavor makes up for the lack of color prior to cooking the meat.

Winter is Sweet Soy. I have never tried sweet soy before but this one is quite nice because it brings out a different side to the meat.

Out of the four marinates mentioned I would say my top two favorites is Autumn and Summer. I love the flavor of everything but I just like the complex tastes of the two.

If you don't prefer the marinated meat you can go with the traditional thinly sliced beef and pork but I am telling you that their marinated meat is amazing as well and its worth a try.

Another great thing about Samgyup sa Lahat is they also offer Chimaek which is Chicken and Beer for their happy hour special from 11 pm to 2am where you can get a bucket of beer for 288 pesos only and Chicken for 150 pesos. For the Chicken you can choose between Original, Sweet and Spicy.

They also offer unlimited ice cream for an additional 88 pesos on top of your samgyupsal which is definitely awesome because you can have all the ice cream after your samgyupsal.

They do have a 2 hr. time limit so enjoy your samgyupsal as much as you can and try as much as you want but don't be wasteful as they also have no leftover policy.

Overall what do I think of Samgyup Sa Lahat?

I LOVE IT! The only flaw I can say is they are too far from where I live and I hope they open one in QC because they have great selections and they are one of the most creative places that serve samgyupsal in experimenting on different flavors.

If you are near NAIA 1 I would definitely suggest this place to you guys.

For more information about Samgyup Sa Lahat check out their Facebook page here.

Much Love!
