Favorite Rainy Season Treats

Ola!

How was your weekend? Was is as breezy as mine? haha! kidding aside I have a new post for you all!

I know the past week had been a bitch, don't deny! it has been raining since Monday and I hate it when it rains! The only thing that I like when it is raining is I don't have to go to school when I was younger. But now that I am working I have to suck it up because the only reason I can skip work is either I am sick or I am stuck because of flooding.

Since it has been raining I was able to enjoy some simple treats to beat the cold weather.

I am currently on a diet, but I am allowed to have soups on that diet. and I was able to enjoy Beef Mami and some Lucky Me with Embutido omelet.

Lucky Me Beef Mami and embutido omelet

Spicy Beef Mami ^_^

Eating Mami is one of the things that I really like about staying during the rainy season.I ate these last Friday and Saturday ^_^

What is your favorite Rainy Season treat?

Have you seen the Red Moon last night?

credits to google.com

Have you seen the Lunar eclipse last night?

I was able to see this spectacular view from the comfort of my home. It was said that a red moon during a lunar eclipse is not a common sight and usually it takes decades to see one.

I was lucky to see this and don't have to pay a fee! haha!

I actually stayed up until 3 in the morning to see the eclipse and how slowly the moon turns red. It actually had 3 colors if see it without binoculars. During the first few minutes there was a white, then succeeding is a faint orange that intensifies over a couple of minutes then it has turned into a fiery red.

This Lunar eclipse is also the longest. it lasted for 11 minutes. The view was spectacular. Although there were obstructions where I was looking i.e. the commercial building besides our house. But nonetheless the scene was worth remembering.

We'll never know when we'll be seeing another red moon. But I hope to see a blue moon next time ^_^

simple cravings during my period.

When I have my period I act like a pregnant woman going thru her first trimester. Usually on the first day of my period I feel sluggish and don't really want to move unless I have to go into the bathroom.

I am not like other girls there that crave for green mangoes on their period. I usually crave for cold and hot beverages. I actually bought myself a hot tea and a Dark mocha frap back then when I was working in the call center! haha!

One of the food that I crave the most besides from hot and cold beverages I also crave for fruits like grapes, apple, and oranges. When I was still working as a call center agent I would buy like 3 kilos of grapes from the grocery near our office.

Craving is kinda something I can hold back when needed. But when I cannot hold it back anymore I would just do it.

What is your special craving? Let me know ^_^

Much Love!

What I have been craving for

A lot of my closest friends know that I crave food that easily. But there is one food that I really crave the most. Whether its raining or its painstakingly hot outside I usually crave for my mother's famous spaghetti.

Manila bans Facebook during work

Just saw this post from Yahoo a couple of minutes ago regarding banning Facebook at work - especially at government offices.

Honestly speaking a lot of companies have banned Facebook at work. I have worked in a call center for a year and I have seen people accessing their accounts through their work stations. I'm not gonna come clean but I was part of those that did that. But nonetheless Facebook is now part of our lives.
And even if they ban Facebook in their servers there is a lot of means to access the site without getting detected - trust me, I live with two computer addicts / professionals. Its pretty easy to go through third party links to access Facebook.

Banning Facebook is actually not a way to discipline your employees. And also the employees will be the one to decide if they want to abide by the rules or not.

Just saying!

:D

Angel's Burger Vs. Burger Machine -- who is better?

Hey guys! I know I have been missing in action for a while, and I am really sorry because I have been pre-occupied with work and I wasn't able to make new posts.

My post for today is a comparison of two well known burger stands in the metro - Angel's Burger and Burger Machine.

Both food stands sell the same product - Burgers, and this post will be my review about the two famous burger stands.

Lets begin with Burger Machine.

It was created in 1981 by Fe Esperanza S. Rodriguez and a sister who both planned to turn two old small buses into mobile stores, an idea they adapted from America. It was their fondness for hamburgers that inspired them to make a business that would serve for the masses. The stores were then opened near two gas stations in Quezon City. They all began with a capital of P40,000 with nearly two dozen employees working continuously. This non-stop service earned Burger Machine the nickname of "the burger that never sleeps."

A year later, a third store was opened. The company was nationally recognized.

In 1990, the Corporate Office in EDSA started and was called EDSA Business Unit. It was also in this year when the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology confirmed their burgers as “source of the most nutrients in terms of peso value compared to other leading hamburger chains.”

Through the years, Burger Machine launched dozens of branches including stalls and full-scale fast food restaurants. But during the Asian Financial Crisis of the 90's, the company saw more struggles and was forced to close down several branches and restaurants. Burger Machine is now back to its roots operation which is 24/7 burger stands for the masses. (From Wikipedia)

During my High school days I would sneak out with my guy buddy to buy one of these. They had these Jumbo burgers that are also buy 1 take 1 which is so worth it. Back then it was worth 30 pesos or less than that. The Patties of the burgers are made from 100% pure beef, it takes at least 10-20 minutes for it to cook. That is why a lot of kids hangout at their stands for that. Burger Machine employees are also very nice and would even chat with their regulars while cooking the burgers (multitasking much? haha)

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of Burger Machine stands in our neighborhood anymore, the nearest one is about 15 minutes away and is quite hidden so you really have to know our neighborhood. Before there were like 6 Burger Machine stands that is like 5 minutes away from my house.

My favorite Burgers are their jumbo burgers and also their longganisa burgers which are really made from longganisa hehe ^_^

One of their selling features is that you can choose from their three sauces for your burger, so instead of just catsup/ketchup (it is really spelled that way in their menu) and mayo, spicy barbecue and lastly, catsup/ketchup and dressing. their dressing is a special mix of ketchup, mayo and other ingredients.

I admit that their burgers are a little pricey but they are so worth it! They also have other things to offer like their bartburgers and their sansrival if you are looking for something sweet ^_^

Now lets go to Angel's Burger

In terms of where Angel's burger have started I am not sure. I have tried to ask the branches that I mostly drop by, but they said they are just a franchise and that is all, even wikepedia and google can't answer my search and would just give me related articles, like that will help! haha!

Their best seller is basically their buy one take one burgers, in which there is a cheese burger variant if you want that more.

In terms of prices, Angel's burger is 21 pesos while their cheese burger is 31 pesos. Its actually a bit cheaper but the size of their burgers a bit smaller.

One trivia I found out about their patties is that they are made from puso ng saging a bit of meat and some meat extenders, unfortunately I wasn't able to find out what is the English term of that vegetable.

The thing I liked about Angel's Burger is that they are easily available. Like literally in every part of my neighborhood there is like one or two stands in every corner. But the thing that I don't like though is that since they are a franchise, each stand is different from the other. For example, In one stand I went to they offer coleslaw as an additional for their burgers while on other stands they don't offer coleslaw. Their sauce is only ketchup with mayo.

The service also differs from one branch to another. I have seen some stands that has the nicest crew while others have like robots that don't even interact with their customers.

I am not criticizing that Angel's have the worst burger or that Burger machine is better. They are actually the best in their own way. The only difference is that Angel's prices are much cheaper while Burger Machine takes customer service to another level.

Well that's my blog for today. Really sorry there is no pictures in this blog for now since I don't have a camera. I'll try to get some pictures in a couple of days ok?

if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an email or comment below...gotta go!

much love!

Another Banchetto Friday! (April 01, 2011)

(sorry if the picture is a bit blurry)

How was your week?

For me it was okay, could have been better though.

So last Friday me and my office mates decided to spend some time over at Banchetto.

If you don't know what Banchetto is, it is a weekend food bazaar of a sort that offers a lot of food in affordable prices. It has local cuisines, korean food, and also street food like
isaw (chicken or pork intestines), betamax (blood) and other sorts of food you can think of.

Before we went to the banchetto, we dropped by McDonald's for some pre-banchetto food - fries and hot fudge sundae. Afterwards we went over at 103.5 wowfm to greet one of our friends Martin T. He is actually one of the nicest Dj's I've met ^_^

(enjoying the fries and sundae while checking our facebook accounts haha)

Then this is the fun part.

I ordered isaw, dugo, and pork fat and a corn cob
Denise ordered Ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes)
Joanne ordered Fried Pork Chop
Leizl ordered Pork adobo
Gelai ordered Salad from Buckaroo

and in total I think we only spent around 400+ pesos which is really cheap! ^^

(after eating the feast! ....in 3,2,1 I am now in a food coma haha!)

I was actually able to stay up until 6 am within the vicinity and its so great! ^_^

And I got something for my mom.... I got her Kim Mari! for only 50 pesos! and my mom loved it! ^_^

well that's it for this week's adventure I'll try to be on the look out for more places to explore ^_^

much love!
